J.D. hauled freight. Gigi brought his story home.
Gigi Howell grew up right here in Westland. Her family’s roots run through the neighborhood, including Margie’s Italian Gardens, where her parents met while working and where little Gigi was so at home she thought Margie was her grandmother.
Her grandfather J.D. Jimeson was a long-haul truck driver who knew how to work and how to take care of his people. JD’s carries his name, his grit, and Gigi’s big-hearted way of making everybody feel like family.
Years later, Gigi teamed up with longtime friend Bourke Harvey and came home to open JD’s on Camp Bowie West in 2022. The family photos, the names on the menu, and more than a few recipes all have a story. The burger in your hands is just the tasty part.
